In place of the large aluminum platter that typically takes up about 40% of each deck section, the S8 offers you a pair of large color displays with dedicated controls that mirror Traktor's Remix Deck layout, but they're also perfect for regular track playback as well. When Native Instruments unveiled their Traktor Kontrol S8 to us, many of the electronic musicians here at Sweetwater gave a collective whoop of joy and started clearing space on their desks. Many of us had been hoping for a controller build around Remix Decks since they were first introduced in the 2012 release of Traktor Pro 2, and these full-color displays totally blew us away. Not only do you get a full display that mirrors Traktor's Remix Deck window, you also get a full set of controls that let you tweak playback options, adjust levels, set loops, and more. These displays also make working with regular track playback a blast, giving you an added degree of hands-on control over track parameters.

One of the things that's easy to overlook on the Traktor Kontrol S8 is the 4-deck mixer section. By now, we've all come to expect four decks worth of mixing on any major DJ controller, and even the grippy knobs, smooth filter controls, and playable faders on the S8 seem par for the course. But what you might not expect is the excellent mixer/audio interface that's onboard, which offers four sets of stereo inputs (line or phono), a pair of microphone inputs, and a variety of outputs to fit into any sound system. And when it comes to sound quality, you really can't knock the 24-bit/48kHz resolution, which will give most dedicated recording interfaces a run for their money.

SYNTHESIZER
The XW-P1 is a 61 key performance synthesizer with Casio's exclusive (HPSS) Hybrid Processing Sound Source. Providing screaming virtual analog monophonic leads and basses, drawbar organs, complex layers, stereo pianos, drums and more, the XW-P1 has the sounds and real-time control the performing musician needs.

STEP SEQUENCER
Providing everything from pulsing dance grooves to animated synth textures and arpeggios, the Step Sequencer is the first of its kind. With nine tracks for drums, basses, synths and chordal parts, four controller tracks for adding panning, filter changes and other animation to existing parts and eight patterns make up each sequence; the user can build and mix their performance on the fly. Sequences can even transpose live from the keyboard, providing a completely interactive experience.

DRAWBAR ORGAN
In addition to the solo synth and Hexlayers, the XW-P1 performance synthesizer is armed with an arsenal of gig ready sounds like stereo pianos, vintage electric pianos, strings, brass, guitars, basses, drums and more. It also has a new drawbar organ mode. Utilizing the nine sliders on the XW-P1 you have full range control over each drawbar. The XW-P1 even has dedicated controls for key percussion and rotary speaker while also providing vibrato, distortion and more for the ultimate drawbar organ experience.

SOLO SYNTH
Utilizing Casio’s exclusive (HPSS) Hybrid Processing Sound Source, a six oscillator monophonic solo synth is just one of the amazing sound engine in the XW-P1. The solo synth has the power to deliver classic analog sounds and sounds with an aggressive edge unlike anything else. Two virtual analog style oscillators, two PCM based oscillators, a noise oscillator and an external oscillator via mic and line inputs can be combined to make up a single solo synth tone. Each oscillator has an independent filter, envelopes, independent key tracking, portamento, two LFO’s and access to master resonant filter. With impressive modulation and control capabilities at your fingertips, the solo synth is capable of a wide range of sounds and expression.

HEX LAYER
In addition to the solo synth, the XW-P1 also features HexLayer tones. A HexLayer is a single sound comprised of up to 6 components, allowing complex layers, splits and velocity switched sounds. The sliders on the XW-P1 can be used to mix sounds on the fly to create evolving pads and rich synth textures while key velocity can be used to create dynamic velocity switched orchestral sounds and more.

ARPEGGIATOR AND PHRASE SEQUENCER
The XW-P1 has powerful arpeggiators. In addition to typical arpeggio patterns, this arpeggiator can create polyphonic synth gated patterns, acoustic instrument emulations and is even fully programmable allowing you to create your own unique sounds. An additional phrase sequencer allows you to quickly capture any riff that you play on the keyboard and have it available on a front panel switch or triggered and transposed live from a range of notes on the keyboard. The combination of the Step Sequencer, Arpeggiator and Phrase Sequencer provides an endless array of sound possibilities.

CONTROL
The XW-P1 has 4 realtime controller knobs, pitch bend and modulation wheels, along with 9 sliders to provide control over internal sounds and external devices. Through standard MIDI ports and with a class-compliant USB port the keyboard can be used as a controller for other instruments, including computer software and iPad® based software applications. It also includes an audio input allowing you to monitor an MP3 player, computer or other device without the need for a mixer.

BATTERIES
While the XW-P1 comes with a power supply it can also run on batteries, providing a truly mobile music making experience. You can now create music virtually anywhere.

DJs can use rekordbox to mark key points on a track, and the XDJ-1000 will count down to them from up to 64 bars away.

MY SETTINGS function including color-coded USB port light

DJs can chose their personal preferences in rekordbox – including QUANTIZE ON/OFF and MASTER TEMPO ON/OFF – and the XDJ-1000 will automatically download them. Plus DJs can color code their playlists in rekordbox, e.g. red for techno or blue for drum & bass, and the light around the USB port will reflect that setting for ease of identification in the booth.

Professional layout for familiarity at home and in the booth

The XDJ-1000 mirrors the layout of the club standard CDJs, so DJs can perfect their sets at home and move effortlessly to the booth to perform. The 206 mm jog wheels are the same size as those on the CDJ-2000NXS, for instant familiarity wherever a DJ plays.

DJs can load and browse music using Wi-Fi*4 or USB connection

In addition to USB keys, DJs can load rekordbox-ready music from PCs, laptops and smartphones using a Wi-Fi or USB connection. They simply connect a device running rekordbox (PC/Mac) or the rekordbox app (iOS/Android) to the XDJ-1000 and then browse and load tracks from the device’s screen. Devices connected via USB will even be charged during performance.

OVERVIEW
The HDJ-C70 professional on-ear headphones are intended for DJs who prefer a headset that is lightweight, extremely flexible, and can produce audio with more impactful bass and clear mid and high frequencies. The new HDJ-C70 model sets itself apart from other Pioneer HDJ offerings with the use of smaller, more compact ear cups, rotatable arms, interchangeable parts, and a minimalistic cosmetic look.

SOUND QUALITY
The HDJ-C70 is fine tuned for pro-DJ monitoring. Newly developed 40mm aperture driver units and neodymium magnets deliver outstanding resolution, accurately reproducing deep bass and clear low to medium frequencies. A copper cap in the pole piece part inside the unit and a 2,000mW input capacity eliminate distortion, even with the volume cranked up.

SOUND ISOLATION
The new headphones are also designed to help minimize loud background noise, often found in loud environments such as a DJ booth, by utilizing a special sound-isolation “air chamber” integrated into the housing of the earpiece. The innovative air chamber also helps to isolate low and mid frequencies resulting in better defined mid bass/mid range sound output. The ear pads use soft leather-type materials for a snug fit to enhance sound insulation.

COMFORT AND FIT
The headband of the HDJ-C70 is made of a polyamide resin for maximum flexibility, withstanding the constant pulling and twisting of the headphones by users. The ear cup housing also utilizes a ridged rubber ring for easier gripping of the headphones and reduced chances of slipping.

For an ultra-comfortable fit and to conform to different head sizes the ear cups of the HDJ-C70 are designed to move vertically along the slider arms, offering a total of 15 different positions. Furthermore, the slider arms can be rotated up to 90 degrees in each direction, providing the greatest flexibility for different styles of DJing.

The model incorporates soft, extremely comfortable low-resilience urethane memory foam ear pads to create a nice seal around the ears which also helps in reducing induced external sounds. The urethane memory pads are wrapped in soft black leather for maximum feel and extended comfort.

INTERCHANGEABLE PARTS
Furthermore, the HDJ-C70 features interchangeable parts for greater longevity. The headband, earpads, housing, cushion and cables can be removed and replaced (parts sold separately). The headphones are pre-installed with a 1.6m straight cord which but can also be swapped with an 1.0m curled cord (included). The cords have fine ribs to reduce tangling and noise from touching. A compact carrying pouch for added protection and convenience comes with the unit.
