Rane MP2015 ROTARY KNOB PRO DJ PERFORMANCE MIXER

Rane MP2015 ROTARY KNOB PRO DJ PERFORMANCE MIXER

The Rane MP2015 is a no-compromise music-mixing performance instrument.
Control, sound, reliability and durability distinguish Rane’s new techno house club mixer for high-end audio systems.

Born from a legacy of rotary club mixers beginning in 1971 with Rudy Bozak’s CMA-10-2DL, on to 1982 and UREI’s 1620, then in 1999 Rane’s MP2016/XP2016 combo, and now in 2015, the MP2015 represents the next revival and evolution.

With over 40 years of rotary mixer experience to draw on, along with collaboration and input from the world’s best techno house DJs, the MP2015 is the best mixer produced by Rane—ever. There are no compromises in the design. It has the best sound, the best features, the best feel, and the best reliability and durability.

Sound Quality

A world-class leader in performance, the MP2015 is designed for playback of High-Resolution Audio (HRA) 24-bit studio master quality sources. Its sonic signature has no equal, satisfying the most stringent vinyl purists. And the dynamics are perfect for DJs preferring the uncompressed sound of WAV and FLAC files.

Professional high-end sound quality begins and ends with the audio signal converters. The MP2015 uses premium performance Audio 4 Pro™ delta-sigma modulator converters by AKM [Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation] that meet the highest sound quality standards of recording studios. The balanced differential audio input converters deliver 116 dB dynamic range, utilizing a built-in modified FIR architecture that minimizes group delay, allowing excellent linear phase response. The 24-bit audio output converters have the same 116 dB dynamic range and sport AKM’s proprietary 24-bit digital filter for better sound quality achieving low distortion characteristics and wide dynamic range. The differential outputs eliminate the need for AC coupling capacitors further increasing performance. Input and output converters support sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, or 96 kHz. Overall Digital/USB in to Line-out, or Line-in to Digital/USB out dynamic range is 116 dB (A-weighted), while Line-input to Line-output dynamic range is a remarkable 113 dB (A-weighted) with vanishingly low THD+N of 0.0009%.

Studio-Quality Phono Preamps, and S/PDIF for CDJs

The Phono-CD (or any line-level source) analog input stages feature gold RCA connectors and are true studio-quality preamplifiers providing EMI[1], RFI[2] and transient overvoltage protection against ESD[3]. The circuitry provides low noise, high gain-bandwidth, low harmonic distortion, fast slew rate and high output current. The phono RIAA filter accuracy measures +0.1/-0.2 dB from perfect. Included are 18 Hz high-pass infrasonic (rumble) filters with steep 18 dB/octave slopes and ultrasonic filters beginning rolloff at 50 kHz at a 12 dB/octave rate. A zero-distortion relay selects between CD and Phono operation.

EMI (electromagnetic interference) A measure of electromagnetic radiation from equipment.
RFI (radio frequency interference) A measure of radio frequency (RF) radiation from equipment.
ESD (electrostatic discharge) Electrical discharges of static electricity that build up on personnel or equipment, generated by interaction of dissimilar materials.
Using CDJs? For the very best sound, bypass the D/A converters and go direct digital with S/PDIF. Regular RCA line inputs work for players without S/PDIF outputs. Switches for each input let you choose.

Filters and EQ

Sweep Filters
Each of the four Input channels and the Submix channel feature a unique and exclusive three-position toggle selector-switch. Choose between LP (low-pass), HP (high-pass) or L-H (low-pass, high-pass combo). All have steep 24 dB/octave (4th-order) slopes and are sweepable.

In the LP position the Filter knob sweeps the low-pass frequency from 20 Hz to 20 kHz (CCW to CW). The 12:00 middle position is 635 Hz.

In the HP position the Filter knob sweeps the high-pass frequency from 20 Hz to 20 kHz (CCW to CW). The 12:00 middle position is 635 Hz.

In the L-H position the Filter knob sweeps either the LP or HP filter depending upon rotation direction from center. The 12:00 middle position bypasses both filters giving a flat unaffected response. Rotating the knob from fully counterclockwise to center sweeps the LP filter from 20 Hz to 18 kHz. Rotating the knob from center to fully clockwise sweeps the HP filter from 35 Hz to 20 kHz.

The single Resonance (Q) knob controls the shape of all Input and Submix filters. The range is from flat (Q=0.707) to max peaking (Q=12).

These filters are high resolution, fast and artifact free, with all filter coefficients accurately calculated for the selected sample rate.

Channel Tone Controls
All input channels and the Submix channel have exceptional three-band tone controls characterized by being 12 dB/octave (2nd-order) Linkwitz-Riley, full-cut filters (kill) with selectable crossover points of 150 Hz/6.0 kHz or 300 Hz/3.0 kHz. The crossover points are selected in the user control panel when connected to a computer via one of the USB ports.

Like the Sweep Filters, the Tone Control filters are extremely accurate, high resolution, fast and artifact free, with all filter coefficients accurately calculated for the selected sample rate.

Submix Channel

This unique input channel provides grouping any number of inputs for easy multi-source mixing. It allows one set of controls for all functions verses having to deal with multiple knobs and buttons on multiple channels. Plus this becomes another input simply by activating the SUB button found on the Session In section.

The Submix is great innovation for multi-track DJs, combining 1 to 4 channels plus the Session Input into a Submix, thereby controlling multiple tracks with one set of EQ, Filter, and volume controls. This means turning one knob instead of trying to turn several channel knobs at once. Quickly assign or un-assign any Input to the Submix, which has its own meter, headphone Cue, and USB record output. This is also where an external effects unit can be mixed in, and assigned to the Submix or the Main Mix. The Submix can also be used as a 5th input channel from the Session Input. No other mixer on the market provides this ease of multi-track use.

Isolator EQ Section

The proprietary three-band output Isolator is a steep 24 dB/octave (4th-order) phase-compensated Linkwitz-Riley design with continuously adjustable low-mid and mid-high crossover points. Like the Tone Controls, these filters are extremely accurate, high resolution, fast and artifact free, with all filter coefficients accurately calculated for the selected sample rate.

Adjustable crossovers allow the artist to match the Isolator to the music being played. Low-mid crossover is adjustable from 80 Hz to 640 Hz. Mid-high crossover is adjustable from 1 kHz to 8 kHz.

Dual USB Ports for Simple DJ Changeover

One of the biggest challenges of digital DJing has been seamlessly changing over from one DJ to the next and playing back-to-back DJ sets. With the dual USB architecture of the MP2015 mixer, changeover between digital DJs has never been easier. Different DJ or DAW software programs are not a problem. When two DJs are connected to the MP2015, they can quickly swap deck control between computers using the Source Select knobs. Any of the four inputs can be swapped back and forth with a simple knob twist. Nice and easy, just the way we intended.

Each port can stream 24 channels of low-latency 24-bit audio at 44.1, 48, or 96 kHz.

Connect up to four turntables, four CD decks, or two of each.

S/PDIF inputs are provided for equipped CDJs. Connect a fifth CD to the Session In using either analog or S/PDIF.

Connect yet another CD or musical instrument to the AUX line input, available at any of the input channels.

Class Compliant Dual USB Ports

Dual USB ports provide simultaneous connection of two computers, enabling back-to-back sets between laptop DJs running different software without compromise or interruption—no easy feat.

The USB ports are 100% class compliant, allowing hook-up to any Mac OSx device without the need for an additional driver.

The included high-performance ASIO driver runs most Windows DAW and DJ software.

MIDI end points are class compliant with both OSX and Windows devices.

Deck Cue, Pan, and Split Cue

The Cue slider cues Deck 1 or Deck 2 by moving the slider accordingly. This lets you adjust a Deck volume in the headphones without raising the Deck Gain control.

When Split Cue is off, the Cue / Main Pan knob balances how much stereo cue and stereo main mix you hear in the headphones.

When Split Cue is on, the Cued Deck goes to the left headphone cup and the Main mix goes to the right cup. The Cue / Main Pan knob balances how much Cue (left) and Main (right) is heard in the headphones.

Magnetic Crossfader

The proprietary Rane magnetic fader is fast, accurate, and long lasting. The design uses non-contact technology previously reserved for demanding aerospace and industrial applications. No travel noise—no bleed—ever.

Rane's magnetic faders accurately translate hand motion into precise audio level control. Non-contact fader technology is the only way to fully address the needs of the professional performance DJ.

Rane Sixty Eight pro dj Club mixer SERATO DJ

Two computers, two USB ports, four decks and a range of effects.

The Sixty-Eight is the ultimate plug-and-play package supporting four-deck digital vinyl simulation, software controls, two USB ports for easy DJ transitions and colloboration, software effects, six built in beat effects, and all the record and playback channels you need. The Sixty-Eight Mixer supports both analog and Digital Vinyl Simulation (DVS) playback. Serato DJ software and manual are included, and the mixer is also compatible with Serato Scratch Live. It includes Rane's ASIO and Core Audio drivers for use with other popular DJ and DAW programs. Four Serato Control Vinyl Records and four Serato Control CDs are included.

Armed with eight selectable inputs, studio-grade phono preamps, USB and S/PDIF inputs, the Sixty-Eight allows a blend of analog and digital audio sources like never before. It features easy internal digital effects with on-beat effect switching, external analog inserts for hardware effects, and USB insert support for software effects.

Internal 22-Channel Sound Card

Why so many channels? The Sixty-Eight is able to simultaneously support control-signal pickup and playback for four DVS Decks, provide USB send and return for software effects insert and record the main mix, all at the same time.

Software controls for Library, Loops, and CUEs

Take advantage of the Sixty-Eight's tight integration with Serato Scratch Live and control the software from dedicated, MIDI mappable controls right on the mixer.

Quickly browse your library and crates to load tracks.
Create, modify and trigger your loops either automatically or manually.
Set and trigger your cue points on the fly.

Dual USB ports for simple DJ change over

The Sixty-Eight allows two computers running Scratch Live to connect to the mixer simultaneously. This allows two DJs to play at the same time and easy DJ handover. Connect both computers to the two USB ports on the Sixty-Eight. On each computer, select a USB Source for each Virtual Deck.

3-band isolator EQs plus High-pass/Low-pass filter for each program channel

Each program channel on the Sixty-Eight has its own dedicated 3-band isolator EQs and dedicated High-Pass/Low-Pass filters. These controls let you take full control of your mix to accurately and precisely cut or boost any component of your track. Use the full cut EQs to tune it just the way you want it, or use the High-Pass/Low-Pass filter knob to quickly cut and boost with one turn. The filter allows you to blend, mix or add a unique effect to your track.

FlexFx Loop with six internal effects, analog loop and USB Insert

The Rane FlexFx Loop on the Sixty-Eight is the ultimate solution for flexible control of your audio effects. The FlexFx Loop is an auxiliary bus dedicated to combining any combination of programs and mics and applying internal, external and software effects. This means you can quickly and easily add and remove audio, apply any of the six built-in, beat synchronized effects, add any external effects processors, and use the software effects of your choosing—all at the same time!

Ultra low latency core audio and asio drivers

Rane’s ultra low latency, multi-client ASIO and Core Audio drivers set the standard for USB streaming devices. These drivers are fast and reliable, and are designed for professionals with demanding needs.

Rane ASIO and Core Audio drivers allow use with multiple third-party software applications that support Core Audio or ASIO. ASIO and Core Audio drivers are multi-client, meaning they allow multiple applications on a computer to share the device at the same time. When using a Rane product with Serato Scratch Live, proprietary Serato Audio Research drivers are used in place of Rane ASIO (Windows) and Core Audio (Mac) drivers. The included Rane drivers are used when Scratch Live is not running.

Take these industry standard drivers and unleash your Rane audio device on any professional software package of your choice.

Rane MP25 Club Mixer

Rane MP25 Club Mixer

Meet the Rane MP25 mixer, satisfying the audio and ergonomic demands of performing DJs, in a 19˝ rack format preferred by nightclubs, with a compact 4U design that drops easily into a mobile rig. It's the same height as a classic Rane MM 8z, MP 24 or MP 22 series Mixer.

Sporting two microphone inputs, four studio-grade phono preamps, four analog aux inputs, four low-latency stereo USB inputs, analog and USB effects insert loops, and a variety of analog and digital outputs; the MP25 remains rooted in analog tradition while reaching new heights of digital connectivity.

Reliable, low-latency, multi-client ASIO and Core Audio drivers interface the MP25's twenty-two USB audio channels directly to your favorite multi-track mixing, beat-making, looping, effects, and recording applications. Additionally, the MP25's front panel controls are MIDI enabled, allowing manipulation of software parameters directly from the mixer's control surface.
The MP25 mixer ships March 2011.

FRONT PANEL

Inputs

* Four individually switchable stereo Phono/Line inputs.
* Four stereo Auxiliary inputs.
* Four stereo USB playback inputs.
* Two microphone inputs with optional Talkover ducking:
o One with front and rear panel connectors.
o One with a line-level input option.
o Engage a mic to put it into the mix, or engage Talkover to put the mic in the mix and duck all other sources. Talkover makes it easy to jump into the mix for quick, intelligible announcements.

Outputs

* Stereo Main Outputs on balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA:
o Rear panel Mono/Stereo switch.
o Rear panel Max Out level attenuator.
* Stereo balanced 1/4" TRS Zone and Booth outputs:
o Auto-mono output on both Left and Right jacks.
* Stereo Record outputs on RCA, S/PDIF and USB.

REAR PANEL

SIDE PANEL

The MP25 fits in a 19" rack, the same height as a MM 8z, MP 24 or MP 22 series Mixer. The jacks are recessed, allowing connectors to fit inside a mobile coffin. Click on any image for a full-size JPG to read the dimensions.

MP25 Club Mixer's USBUSB ASIO Core Audio

* 22 streaming USB audio channels.
* Four stereo playback channels stream audio directly from your favorite playback, mixing, beat-making, and looping applications to the MP25's digital mixer engine.
* Four stereo record channels stream the four post-fader program channels to your audio application for multi-track recording.
* A fifth stereo record channel streams Mic 1, Mic 2, or the Main Mix to your recording application.
* The USB Effects Loop enables insertion of any available stereo computer-based VST effects processors into the MP25's powerful FlexFX bus.
* Low-latency ASIO / Core Audio drivers eliminate delay between the control input to audio software and the audible result.
* Multiclient ASIO / Core Audio drivers allow multiple software applications to simultaneously stream audio to and from the mixer.
* The MP25 MIDI device exposes the MP25 front panel as a MIDI controller, allowing control of audio application parameters using the mixer's control surface.

Installing the ASIO or Core Audio driver creates the MP25 Control Panel in your computer, which also include MIDI implementation (control numbers in red).

Third-Party SoftwareUSB ASIO Core Audio

ASIO and Core Audio software applications are compatible with the MP25, which includes a low-latency, USB 2.0, high-speed, 10-input, 12-output audio interface. The MP25 front panel controls are MIDI-mappable in supporting software. Features will vary between software programs.

For example, in Ableton Live, the MP25 can be used as a multichannel sound card and MIDI controller. You can stream audio from four different audio tracks from Ableton to separate channels of the MP25 mixer, including a dedicated USB audio channel for FlexFX routing, and simultaneously record multitrack or stereo audio back into Ableton Live.

The MP25 ASIO and Core Audio drivers require the following minimum system capabilities:

* PC: XP, Vista, Windows 7.
* Mac: OS X 10.5 or higher.
* System Memory: 2 GB or more.
* Processor: 2 GHz single core or better.

MP25 FlexFX

The FlexFx architecture in the MP25 is more powerful than typical effect insert solutions. The architecture includes the FlexFx Bus, an auxiliary bus routed to the FlexFX Loop which includes two independent effects inserts. Any combination of PGM 1-4 and Mic 1-2 may be routed to the FlexFX Bus. Any combination of external analog and USB effects may be applied within the FlexFX Loop. It's possible to cue and meter the FlexFX Loop return. You may also bypass the entire FlexFX Loop using a single button to instantly punch in and out a combination of effects. The final FlexFX Level controls the amount of the FlexFX audio in the Main Mix. The FlexFX architecture allows you to quickly apply any combination of effects to a variety of sources to produce unique, compelling mixes on the fly.

The order of processing in the MP25's FlexFx architecture is:

1. Independent FlexFx assign for PGM 1-4 and Mic 1-2, or assign all sources simultaneously with the Main FlexFX button.
2. Ext. Analog Insert, with Send and Return Levels.
3. USB Insert.
4. FlexFX Loop return Cue and Meter.
5. FlexFx On (FlexFX Loop Bypass).
6. FlexFx Mix Level control.

External Audio Effects — Any stereo effects unit connected to the Send and Return can be inserted independently or in combination with other effects. The external analog loop includes Send and Return Levels to match mixer and processor audio levels.

USB Effects — Your favorite VST effects plug-ins on your computer can be inserted independently or in combination with other effects using the FlexFX USB Insert.
